Enjoy a beautiful, deeply relaxing experience of being physically wrapped up warm and cosy, and then being wrapped up in a sonic cocoon of sacred, healing frequencies and sounds from instruments and vocal toning.
Sound baths are an ancient technique which involve being “bathed” in the vibrations, frequencies and sounds of different specially-tuned instruments. These instruments can include, for example, Tibetan Singing bowls, Crystal Bowls, chimes, gongs and drums. They look lovely but they also do an amazing job in creating a super relaxing experience. You can attend a group sound bath and have an amazing experience, but a personal, private sound bath obviously focuses on your body’s needs in a more direct and focused way.
This creates the feeling of a safe space where you don’t need to do or be anything, you just receive and relax – which are things that many of us struggle with in this day and age. If you’re someone who struggles to relax and your mind or body are go-go-go all the time, this can be a truly amazing experience and can help start to teach your mind and body how to relax. They may well have forgotten! For example, if we’re carrying stress or trauma, the body and mind can be on alert mode most of the day, till we go into deep sleep. That is not supportive of good physical, mental or emotional wellbeing as we are triggered into constant survival mode, instead of entering our vital periods of rest, relaxation and recuperation mode.
All sessions are unique as they are intuitively guided to work with your body, which will bring up different needs on any given day.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
You’ll be wrapped up warm and cozy, whether laying on the treatment couch or seated in a comfortable chair (if you cannot lay down). The sound bath starts quietly, builds to a higher point (which is important to the healing experience), and then slowly quietens down again. The sound itself lasts for around 45-50 minutes and then there is quiet time to process and to gently emerge from the experience. That quiet time is just as vital as the time with sound, to enable the body to work with the vibrations and the shifts that can occur.
BENEFITS:
Sound baths help to harmonise mind, body and spirit, calming emotions and helping you to relax in a really deep way that you may struggle to achieve in daily life. You may well fall asleep at some points, which is good and you’ll still receive the therapeutic benefits. Among the amazing benefits of sound healing are: better sleep, relaxation, lower blood pressure and slower heartbeat, improved circulation, muscle relaxation, taking you into a meditative state and general state of harmony with mind, body and spirit. Sound healing works on the energy centres of the body, including the Chakras and Meridians, and may help to shift and release energetic and emotional blockages.
CONTRAINDICATIONS & ADVISORIES:
There are some advisories for specific health conditions for which it’s best to check with your doctor before attending a sound bath. If you have any doubts or queries, do contact me to discuss your needs:
Epilepsy or seizures – some sounds could potentially trigger a seizure;
Hearing Impairments – people with hearing aids can still enjoy the sound bath and even those who are very hard of hearing can enjoy the vibrations of the sound bath. However, there can be some feedback with hearing aids and you may need to remove your hearing aid in order to ensure that doesn’t occur;
Sound Sensitivity – if you are particularly sensitive to sounds, there may be specific sounds or volumes that are uncomfortable. Do bear this in mind. You will be asked to let me know if you find any specific sound too intense (this is usually a sign of clearing things), and I will adjust the sound accordingly to ensure your comfort. However, if you know that you really struggle with sounds, this may not be right for you. Some people with tinnitus actually find sound baths soothing, as it helps to filter out the tinnitus sounds, but it’s best to follow your body on this. If you're wanting to try but uncertain, I would recommend you book a Crystal Healing session, which also works on vibrations of the crystals, and then we can test out some sounds to see how you get on;
Pregnancy – in the first trimester, this is not advised due to the vibrations. After that it is advisable to check with the GP first, however, your growing baby may well enjoy the healing vibrations and it’s shown that things like classical music are beneficial to babies in the womb, with the vibrations passing through the amniotic fluids. As with all things at this precious time, go with your body.
